BIG BRAG

One week, two wheels, experience of a lifetime

2019 ROUTES ANNOUNCED JANUARY 1

June 1 - 8, 2019

Ride Info

RIDE INFO

On Big BRAG we cover about 55 miles per day. It sounds like a lot but there are well stocked rest stops with food and drink every 12 - 18 miles. We'll stop in some of the most welcoming towns. When you pull in each day you'll have access to the BRAG Bar where you can grab your favorite drink. Each day after the ride there are brag-tivities like bike jousting, bike toss, one legged fixie races, bike trivia, etc.  Each night there is tomfoolery in the town's where we stay, like concerts, DJ's, and festivals. Come along for the journey in 2018 and see what there is to BRAG about.

SHUTTLES

On Big BRAG we offer shuttles to carry you, your luggage, and your noble two wheeled steed to the beginning of the ride. You may choose to take a shuttle from the ending location to the starting location at the beginning of the ride (so your vehicle is available to you when you finish the ride), or you may take a shuttle at the end of the ride to return to your vehicle. You may add a shuttle to your registration when you register online or after you have already registered by clicking register for BRAG and only purchasing the shuttle of your choice. Full and lite shuttles are $80 and Daily shuttles are $40.

BRAG LITE

BRAG Lite is riding any three consecutive days. Some riders will ride the first three days, and some the last three days. Other riders will choose to do three days based out of the layover town. This way riders will start and end at their cars (super convenient), while also riding three days on BRAG. In this example, on day one riders will arrive in Dahlonega on Tuesday morning, ride halfway to meet riders coming in from Jasper, then return to Louisville. Day two, Wednesday is a loop ride in Dahlonega with a century option. Day 3, Thursday, BRAG lite riders will ride halfway to Clarkesville and then return to Dahlonega to end their three day BRAG Lite experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do we stay? On Big BRAG you have the option of staying indoors or camping outdoors in each overnight location. All camping is included in the fee and is on site while hotels are not included in the fee.

Where should I bring? We have prepared a packing list for you prepared by veteran BRAG riders.

What Do The Riding Fees Cover? The weekly fee entitles you to maps, entrance to campsites (tent camping or gym camping), nightly entertainment/live bands, hot showers, extra porta-potties at overnight sites, rest stops every 15 - 20 miles (with hydration, nutrition, porta-potties), sag wagon support, baggage transportation to the overnight campsites, access to medical team, security team, End-Of-The-Road Meal/party, medals for kids 15 and under/seniors 65 and older, and lots more.

How often do we move? On Big Brag we move every day except our layover day in the middle. We also carry your bags from location to location so you don't need to worry about hauling your gear on your bike. If you would like, we also offer first class BRAG where we setup a BRAG provided tent and air mattress for you, and place your bags in your tent.

Do I need a road bike?  Absolutely not! While a road bike certainly makes things a little easier, people have completed ride on every type of bike you could think of, from mountain bikes, to recumbents,  to unicycles.

What if I don't know anyone? The best thing about BRAG is the community of riders. Many come alone and leave with riding buddies for life. You will never ride alone on BRAG. There will always be someone riding at or near your pace. If you are the least bit outgoing, you will meet lots of new friends on BRAG - on the road, at the rest stops and in the shower line, listening to bands, etc.

If I'm not in the best shape, can I participate?

The Bicycle Ride Across Georgia is a ride, not a race.  However good training is important to ensuring you have an enjoyable experience.  Plan on riding several hundred training miles as you get ready for the week.  The route will always present physical challenges, so the more you put into training the more you will get out of the ride. The daily mileage ranges from 50 to 70 miles per day.  Terrain can vary from flat to steep hills. A major cause of injuries is poor conditioning.  There are also SAG wagons that can assist if you have serious trouble.

When do I arrive?

You may arrive to Big BRAG as early as 2:00pm on the listed start day (typically Saturday), and riding begins the following day (typically Sunday).
